Edgewater is the only accommodation in Wanaka situated directly on the lakefront. A full service hotel, Edgewater has been welcoming guests since the late 1980’s.
With 106 rooms across three different room types, there is a room to suit every client’s needs. All have various lake and mountain views.
At Edgewater we have genuine local knowledge that complements our inviting accommodation and enticing seasonal menu. Suites feature master bedroom, separate living-dining area, and laundry facilities. Each has a balcony or patio overlooking the lake and gardens.
On-site mountain bikes are available for hire. Work out on the all-weather tennis courts or relax in the spa and sauna area on site.
Edgewater is only minutes from the heart of Wanaka. Amble along the lake hugging walk way or drive a few minutes to explore the boutique shops, engage with friendly locals and enjoy the inviting atmosphere of Wanaka.
Indulge in some wine-tasting in the region, be exhilarated by the expansive wilderness of the Matukituki River by jet-boat, cruise on Lake Wanaka, ski the slopes or take to the skies for a scenic flight, skydiving or hang-gliding!
Sustainability
In February 2022 Edgewater was awarded the Toitū carbon reduce certification validating Edgewater’s commitment to managing and reducing emissions. We have renewed our certification each year since then. You can view details on other sustainability initiatives here.

Refurbishment Programme
Edgewater is progressing through a guest room refurbishment programme. As at 1 January 2025 over 70% of the rooms are refurbished and known as 'premium' rooms. The premium rooms are across all three room categories: The balance of rooms, known as ‘standard’ rooms have been refreshed but not yet refurbished.
No refurbishment is planned for 20225.
